4) Erik Hansson in Kebene Testifies
Erik Hansson, a resident of Kebene, asserts that his deceased father, Hans Eriksson, also resided there. Hans Eriksson was married thrice and had three litters of children.
Hans Eriksson’s first marriage lasted four years, during which he was married to Kerstin Alfsdotter. This union produced two daughters, Kerstin and Anna. Subsequently, Hans Eriksson married Malin Kristensdotter, who gave birth to a son, Erik Hansson, who is now the plaintiff, and a daughter, Maret, who passed away without surviving children.
Hans Eriksson also fathered several children with his third wife, Börta Andersdotter, who is now his widow. Erik Hansson claims that during his marriage to his mother, his father redeemed his undivided land in Kebene and Västra Röd. Västra Röd, a farm in Valla, was mortgaged by Hans Eriksson during his third marriage. This land was subsequently used by Hans Eriksson to maintain his third wife and their children.
Erik Hansson seeks compensation for the land in Kebene farm, as his father mortgaged Västra Röd again during his marriage to his mother and used the proceeds to support his third wife and their children. To substantiate his claim, Erik Hansson is required to present evidence to the next court demonstrating the extent of land redeemed by his father during his marriage to his mother.
I, Erich Hansönn, was born in Kiebenne in the Stienkierhe sougen. My stepmother, Börtta Andersdatter, was entitled to inheritance in Kiebenne, which she had inherited from my mother. It was declared that our father, Hanns, had inheritance rights to the land in Kiebenne, which amounted to 24 örsboll jordh, and in Westerödt in Walle sougen, which amounted to 12 örsboll jordh. These lands had been owned by Hanses forældhre. Hanns was given to Kierstj Aullffsdatter and married her and Anna. The daughters of the deceased now stood up for the court and sought to prove that their father had purchased land with their mother. It was proven that they had lived together for four years. The deceased Hanns was given to Mallj Christensdatter, who had Erich and Maarte. She passed away. The deceased Erich now stood before the court on his own and sister’s property and stated that his father had purchased land in Kiebenne, which amounted to 23 örsboll jordh, and 12 örsboll in Westerödt, while his wife, Mallj, was still alive. She had then forbidden him to inherit with his sister. Erich’s stepmother, Mallj, then sued him, claiming that her husband, Erich’s father, should have 12 örsboll land in Westerödt, and Erich should be the owner of it. Erich’s father was ordered to sell the land and spend the money on his and his stepmother’s and children’s benefit. He gave her to his third wife, who had amassed considerable wealth in Kiebennee and left some money after his death. The forshreffne Erick, forming the kingdom, should dee 12 örsbol in Westerödh, which was handled by the jndhlöeste udj Erichie’s mother’s lifetime, and should den jgienn j hans sieste könnies tiedh, heltten samme iordh war hannom hans søster tiell arff faldenn, and dee formende tot folgee six örsbol iordh free in Kiebbenne jgienn, and den dee samma könnies tiedh och dun hans død wdsatt jgienn, and now in dennee sieste könnies tiedh och effett hans død wdsatt jgienn, and meendte sig heltten there to tillkommee in arff forshreffne 6 örisbol iordh in forshreffne Westerödh, so if it shall beuisies, eigenit iche Hanns der handh dødhe mierre endh 5 1/2 örsbol iordh jiebbenne when that hand gave birth to his daughter Maarette, 4 1/2 earl balls, and that one earl ball was dissolved by Kiebenne with his last wife, together with Hansie’s earl balls of 19.
