Notes for Axel Yngve* Nordwall
Yngve Nordwall made his film debut in 1939 in Per-Axel Branner’s Rosor varga kävle. He went on to appear in over 20 film and TV productions.

Nordwall was married to the artist Elvine Osterman from 1934 to 1963. They had two sons: Gurie Nordwall, an actor, and Axel Wilhelm Nordwall, a set designer born in 1939, and Axel Fredrik Nordwall, born in 1970.
Notes for Elvine Selma (Spouse 1)
Elvine Nordwall, a Swedish artist, was born in Vänersborg in 1906. In 1914, she immigrated to Gothenburg with her family. As a child, she attended the Slöjdföreningen school and later studied at Valand’s art school in Gothenburg, where she had the privilege of learning from the renowned artist Tor Bjurström.

Nordwall’s artistic journey took off in 1935 when she held her first solo exhibition in Copenhagen. Her paintings often capture the essence of summers spent on the picturesque West Coast of Sweden. However, she also drew inspiration from other subjects, including figures, portraits, and cafes from Italy.

Beyond her paintings, Nordwall was a skilled sculptor and found inspiration in the art and culture of Italy and Greece, where she spent time during her life. Her drawings of Martin Luther King, which are housed in the Cirett King art collection in the United States, are a testament to her versatility and artistic prowess.

Nordwall’s personal life was marked by two significant marriages. She first married engineer Sten Wikland in 1930, and they remained together until Wikland’s passing in 2004. Later, she married director Yngve Nordwall from 1934 to 1963.

Elvine Nordwall was the mother of two talented children: actor Gurie Nordwall and set designer Akke Nordwall. Her legacy as an artist continues to inspire generations, and her works are celebrated in museums across Sweden, including those in Gothenburg, Helsingborg, and Landskrona.
