At the tender age of 13, John McPhee embarked on a transatlantic journey from Scotland with his parents aboard the ship Priscilla. Their departure from Liverpool was scheduled for October 13, 1852. After a long and arduous voyage, they finally arrived at Melbourne Port Phillip on February 24, 1853.
