Notes for Henning Severinsson Kijl
Henning’s farter is Severin Kih, his mother is unknown.
Severin Kihl, a Holstein resident, fathered Henning Severinsson Kihl.
Originally from Holstein, Severin was already King Gustaf I Vasa’s chieftain for two banners of German soldiers during the war against Halland in 1523. In 1525, he received Kinds district in Västergötland as a fiefdom and was listed among the armed nobility of Västergötland in 1526. He attended the Västerås lords’ meeting in 1527 and was present at the castle law at Älvsborg in February 1529.
From October 1530 to March 1540, Severin served as chieftain of Älvsborg Castle and County. He also received Mo County as a fief from April 1540 to March 1549. In 1542, he led a campaign against Nils Dacke. In 1544, he sealed the Västerås inheritance association. On February 7, 1546, he received an open letter granting him the right of possession to seven crown estates in Kinds County instead of Hovsnäs estate, which the king had previously given him and now “recalled”. Despite this, the king still granted him letters on May 14, 1552. Severin died in 1553 before August 12, when his fief estates were handed over to Gustaf Olofsson Stenbock.
In a letter dated November 30, 1539, King Gustaf I reprimanded Severin for treating him with “steel cakes and fermented beer” mixed in a bowl. He ordered Severin to send him a barrel of emder beer, expressing his gratitude for Severin’s welfare.
He first married Pernilla Munck and had children including Severin or Söffrin Kijl, who settled in Apelnäs and Hovsnäs in Älvsborg.
Second marriage married to Malin Ribbing of Valsta, who was alive in 1561, daughter of the lawyer Knut Pedersson Ribbing (no. 15), and Kerstin Gustafsdotter (Stierna).
Children:
Peder, the commander at Gullberg, died in 1588. See Tab. 2.
Anna married Anders Bosson (Oxehufvud, no. 102) in 1539 at Älvsborg. Carin was married to Hans Torstensson (Forstenasläkten, no. 2) as per Tab. 2.

Pernilla Munck’s parents are not mentioned. She was a historical figure from the late medieval period and is best known as a maternal ancestor of the Swedish noble family Kijl.
